Otter Creek Challenge Race

An annual youth rowing race hosted by Lake Champlain Maritime Museum right in the heart of Vergennes, Vermont.

Race Details

The 2022 Otter Creek Challenge Race will take place on Saturday, October 29 at Vergennes Falls Park in Vergennes, Vermont. Teams are encouraged to get in the Halloween spirit and come in costume! We’ll be holding an unofficial costume contest for any participating Halloween teams and giving away a surprise prize to the winning team. Please make sure your costume is secure and safe enough to row in while wearing a face mask! If there are any urgent weather updates, we will email coaches and participants by Friday, October 28.

Rowers should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start of the race and proceed directly to the dock where staff and school coaches will get the rowers into the boats and lined up for their race. Families are welcome to watch along the river or from the falls, wearing masks and keeping safely distanced from other groups. After your race, we ask that rowers return to their families and cars and leave by the end of your assigned time slot so that our staff can sanitize the boats and prepare for the next school group.
