Otter Creek Challenge Race

An annual youth rowing race hosted by Lake Champlain Maritime Museum right in the heart of Vergennes, Vermont.

Race Date, Time, and Location

The 2019 Otter Creek Challenge Race will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Vergennes Falls Park in Vergennes, Vermont. Registration for participants opens at 9 a.m., races start at 10 a.m. (Originally scheduled to take place on November 2, the race has been postponed due to weather and water conditions on Otter Creek)

Families, onlookers, and attendees are welcome to watch for free from the park or along Otter Creek.

Race Details

This open-water rowing race features high school and middle school teams rowing 32- and 25-foot wooden rowing boats in a series of heats.

The boats used in this event were built by Vermont High School and Middle School students at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum as part of the Champlain Longboats boat building program.
