Discovery Day

Have you ever wondered how our ancestors built boats without power tools? Or how archaeologists discover shipwrecks underwater? Or maybe you just really want to finally give a rowing gig a try?
Join us for DISCOVERY DAY, a special free hands-on day for families and adventurous souls to try just about EVERYTHING the Museum has to offer all in ONE DAY!
Learn how to row in our longboats, try out our underwater ROV, get a behind-the-scenes look at our exhibits and how we 3D scan artifacts, step onto the Giant Lake Champlain Map, practice fly fishing and other fishing skills, talk with boat building experts, step into the forge, and so much more.
Fly fishing casting demo will be lead by Liz Orr in collaboration with Vt Fish and Wildlife and Liz Orr’s Walk and Wade Guide Service.
Food will be available for purchase with cash only from Chef Maty who will be serving Mexican cuisine, tacos, quesadillas, and tamales.
