Expanding Our History: Exhibit Renovation Project
2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Join us as we embark on a mission to expand our exhibition, Key to Liberty: The American Revolution in the Champlain Valley, for this landmark anniversary.
One of our permanent exhibits, Key to Liberty explores how actions and engagements on Lake Champlain changed the outcome of the American Revolution. We want to know: how did the war impact the people of the Champlain Valley?

From July 2025–May 2026, we are updating this space with new, expanded research and stories about the American Revolution on Lake Champlain. We have the unique opportunity to bring people together around this anniversary and help our audiences understand our shared past and understand themselves, each other, and the community we want to build together.
Our Exhibit Vision:
- New research and artifacts
- Event and program space
- Accessible features
- New interactive technology
- More stories of people
Funding Goal:
$450,000
Raised to Date:
To date, we have raised $338,000 in private funding from generous donors for this exhibit renovation project. Funding supports exhibit interactives, design, and research to create an inclusive, engaging exhibit experience for all visitors.
