Talking Archaeology: Crash Boats, Not Crashed Boats!

July 10 , 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
History, artifacts, and shipwrecks lie in the depths of Lake Champlain, waiting to share their secrets and stories with the underwater archaeologists who dive down to explore. In 2025, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is excited to introduce Talking Archaeology, a free evening talk series with Museum archaeologists and researchers. Learn about local history, archaeological discoveries, artifacts, and the unique stories that our team has uncovered over four decades of nautical archaeology and research. Courtesy of our friends at Shacksbury, all Talking Archaeology attendees get a free cider to enjoy in our air conditioned auditorium during the talk.
Join us on July 10 for our third installment of the series: Crash Boats, Not Crashed Boats! A History of US Army-Air Force Air-Sea Rescue Vehicles and the Mystery of Lake Champlain’s Wreck ‘E’ with Taylor Picard, Staff Archaeologist.
This talk will be held in the auditorium of the Hoehl Family Education and Visitor Center. It will last approximately 30-45 minutes with time for Q&A afterwards. Talking Archaeology is free to attend with registration, free drink included for all guests 21+.
