Lost at Sea: The History of Nautical Navigation

August 19 11:15 am – 12:00 pm
How did ships navigate the dangers of oceans and lakes before modern charts and GPS? How did sailors cross oceans with limited tools?
Join Museum educator Aric to discover the remarkable navigational tools and techniques that have guided sailors across the world’s great waters. From clever basic techniques to celestial interpretation, these navigational strategies helped to shape history and the modern world.
The program will take place outdoors, weather permitting. Please stop by the front desk at the Hoehl Family Visitor and Education Center to learn where the program will be held on the day-of. This program is free to attend, no registration required.
