James Wakefield Rescue Row 2026

Named after a brave 19th century first responder, James Wakefield, who rescued the passengers and crew of a shipwreck on the Burlington breakwater in 1876, the James Wakefield Rescue Row is an annual fall youth rowing race put on by the Museum. Open-water rowing teams from local high schools and middle schools gather in Burlington Harbor to compete in this annual fall rowing race.
This race is free for all to watch and cheer on the participating teams. Join us!
Youth rowers must register for this event through their school team or as part of their fall season rowing registration. Please check with your coach if you are not sure how to register.
