Bushing

Object/Artifact

Artifact 99-09 is a piece of white lead bushing. The artifact is part of the carriage from the exploded cannon aboard the gunboat New York.

The shape of the lead indicates that it was used as a bushing between the cannon trunnion and the carriage. This suggests that the carriage was designed to hold a larger cannon but was pressed into service for the six-pounder.

Nearly identical to 01-01. Found in proximity to 99-08 and 99-10, supporting the theory that these are all part of a gun carriage assembly.
