Battle of Arnold's Bay
Event
During the escape from The Battle of Valcour Bay, the British caught up with the remains of General Benedict Arnold's fleet in Arnold's Bay, Vermont. At the time, this location was known as Ferris Bay. Though the events of October 13, 1776 would lead to it being renamed after Benedict Arnold. As the British gained on the American fleet, the soldiers began to run their remaining ships aground and set them ablaze to give them more time. The Jersey, The Congress, and The Spitfire were among these abandoned vessels.
