Single Sheave Block
Object/Artifact
Artifact 00.01.08 is a single wooden sheave.
Sheaves (also called blocks) like these were used frequently in the maritime world to make lifting heavy objects, like the vessel's rigging, sails, or cargo, easier. These objects can have 1 or more grooves which serve as a track for the rope that passes through them. This principle is also called mechanical advantage.
