DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the waters of the Lake Champlain Basin at World Water Day! Initiated by the United Nations in 1993\, World Water Day is intended to draw attention to the issues\, advocacy\, and education surrounding the world’s water resources. Here in the Champlain Valley\, partners and friends of the Champlain Basin Education Initiative come together each year to host a day for all member of the public to celebrate our watershed\, learn new skills and information about local water initiatives\, view student art\, and more.  \n\n\n\nLake Champlain Maritime Museum is honored to participate in this event and our education team will be on hand with the Giant Lake Champlain Map! In addition\, there will be scientists\, historians\, artists\, and other water experts will be on hand to share their work and answer questions. \n\n\n\nWorld Water Day Activities: \n\n\n\n DIVE IN with hands-on activities and exhibits celebrating water LEARN how to fish EXPLORE the Giant Lake Champlain Map with Lake Champlain Maritime Museum SEE fly tying demonstrations by expert Trout Unlimited anglers VIEW the gallery of student art\, media\, and writing FREE Stewart’s Shops Scoop Card to the first 100 people to get their activity passport filled \n\n\n\nWe will also be joined by guest speakers from Talking Rivers. Eleven years ago\, the Champlain Basin Education Initiative hosted the first student World Water Day Celebration to share local student work about water resources from more than a dozen classrooms. \n\n\n\nTo celebrate the anniversary of this event\, the Lake Champlain World Water Day will be held at the Champlain Centre Mall in Plattsburgh\, NY\, featuring activities and exhibits by 20 local organizations and work by local students. As part of this event\, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum will be there with our Giant Lake Champlain Map for attendees to step into the watershed\, complete quests\, and more. World Water Day Anniversary Celebration is free and open to the public. \n\n\n\nJoin us in Plattsburgh and learn about our watershed and how you can make a difference in protecting our water resources. View student art\, research\, and other work about our local watershed and water resources. Step onto the Giant Map and visit other participating organizations’ booths to engage with hands-on activities and exhibits celebrating water; learn to fish; hear clean water stories from scientists\, historians\, and watershed groups;  and more. Free ice cream coupons will go to the first 100 people to get their passport filled!  \n\n\n\nA special showing of Meet the Scientists a locally produced film by the Lake Champlain Basin Program and Peregrine Productions\, will air at Regal Cinemas at 12 PM.  \n\n\n\nA special showing of Age of Humans produced by the Wild Center will be air at Regal Cinemas at 1:30 PM. Step onto the Giant Map and visit other participating organizations’ booths to explore how rivers flow and erode during floods with a hands-on model; aquatic invasive species in our ecosystem; an interactive youth art project; how scientists interpret science through art; how to protect drinking water supplies; new environmentally-friendly lawn care practices; fish casting; and more.  \n\n\n\nA special showing of No Other Lake\, a locally produced 39-minute film\, will air at Regal Cinemas at 11 AM. The screening is free for the public and the film producer will be present to introduce the film and answer questions.  \n\n\n\nWorld Water Day is presented by Lake Champlain Basin Program and Champlain Basin Education Initiative. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related
