Susan Evans McClure Joins LCMM as Executive Director

[Vergennes, Vermont, November 29, 2018] Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (LCMM) is pleased to announce Susan Evans McClure is to become its new Executive Director in early 2019. “I am very much looking forward to my new role as Executive Director of LCMM. This opportunity allows me to bring together my experiences in museum education and administration, my passion for Lake Champlain’s history, and my belief that learning about our past can inspire people to have an impact on their world today.”

As Director of Programs and Audience Development at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, Susan worked with her team to inspire national conversations on the importance of the humanities in civic life, raised capital to support educational programming, and created a food history program that used food as a lens to understand American history.

“I am honored to lead Lake Champlain Maritime Museum into its next phase and expand the important role the museum can play in shaping public understanding of the past, present, and future.”

Susan comes to LCMM from VSA Vermont where she has been the Executive Director since 2017. In her career she has worked for the Flynn Center for Performing Arts, Magic Hat Brewing Company, and Shelburne Museum. Susan takes over for current Executive Director Erick Tichonuk who has been with the museum for over 33 years.
