LCMM to host USCG Captains and Masters license courses

This November, LCMM will be hosting US Coast Guard certified Captains and Masters license courses on campus. The courses will be lead by Boatwise LLC.

Boatwise’s USCG “6 PAK” OUPV (license to operate an uninspected passenger vessel) course will run over two long weekends in November, the 1st-4th & the 8th-11th (Thurs-Sun).
In addition, the opportunity for upgrade to a Masters 100 ton License will be offered Nov 16th – 18th (Fri-Sun), with the final exam on Sunday Nov 25th. The Masters license allows holder to operate both inspected and uninspected vessels up to 100 tons (based on prior experience). Courses and tests will be held at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum over these November dates.

  • OUPV – Nov. 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11
  • Master 100T – Nov. 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18
  • OUPV to Master Upgrade – Nov. 16, 17, 18
  • Test: Nov. 25

Completion of the Boatwise courses and tests will qualify graduates for the USCG licenses, based on prior vessel experience and sea time. Potential captains and masters need a minimum of 360 USGC approved days on the water to qualify for these licenses.

Price of courses are listed on Boatwise site, pre-registration open now (deposit $200). For $1,095 for OUPV; $1,295 for full Masters 100T; $295 for OUPV to Masters upgrade.
