Join us for Hammer-In 2018 as blacksmiths and metalworkers from Vermont and beyond gather at LCMM’s Rinehart Blacksmithing Arts Center to exchange information and compare work. This year will feature guest demonstrator Judson Yaggy.

Saturday, May 26th from 9-4. Lunch will be provided as part of your ticket price. Pre Registration required.

Judson will demo an array of forged decorative and architectural shapes and joinery uniquely available to the blacksmith. Starting with some simple to forge but complicated looking details, the demo will move into incorporating these techniques into an architectural piece. An emphasis will be placed on how the blacksmith can make items by forging that other trades would have difficulty producing.

Judson Yaggy began blacksmithing more than 25 years ago after his parents gave him an anvil as a high school graduation present. After graduating from college with a BS in Industrial Design and Drafting, he divided his professional life between blacksmithing and timber framing, working both for himself and other blacksmiths. Over the following years he unified these career paths by forging both timber framing tools and architectural metalwork for the houses he was working on. In 2006 he joined Birdseye Building Company, an employee owned design/build firm in Richmond, Vermont, and is now their lead timber framer and metalworker. Judson currently focuses on architectural metalwork including fireplace accessories, railings, and hardware.
