Temperance and Prohibition in the Champlain Valley

How did the Champlain Valley go rom being a major producer and consumer of alcohol in the early 1800’s to a hotbed of temperance sentiment in the mid-19th century? The Museum’s Executive Director, Susan Evans McClure, will give a talk on October 13 all about Temperance and Prohibition in the Champlain Valley at the Pierson Library in Shelburne. This talk is co-hosted by The Shelburne Historical Society and the Pierson Library and is free for the public to attend.
