Celebrating Sacred Waters

September 11, 2021 , 8:30 am 1:00 pm

Join this fun day of community celebration and connection to our beloved Lake Champlain! This is a collaborative community event by Vermont Interfaith Power & Light, Ascension Lutheran Church, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, Lake Champlain Committee, All Souls Interfaith Gathering, Vermont Clean Water Network, ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, and Lewis Creek Association.

Spend a delightful day participating in your activity of choice: paddling a canoe up the La Platte River, hiking and exploring ecosystems around the Shelburne Bay, or creating written or visual art. The day will start with an orientation to the LaPlatte Watershed, opening circle of introductions & invocations, and blessing by Chief Don Stevens of the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk-Abenaki Nation. Educational and spiritual activities will be guided by faith leaders, field naturalists, educators, artists, and other talented souls. The canoe paddle will be led by the Museum’s Director of Education & Interpretation, Elizabeth Lee.
