Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is looking for qualified kayak trip leaders for our Champlain Discovery teen summer program. This five-week program for teens age 13-16 runs from June 17 to July 19. Ten teen participants build 17’ sea kayaks at the museum and then embark on a 10-day Lake Champlain voyage from Whitehall, NY to Burlington, VT in the boats they built .
Trip leaders are responsible for the group for the 5-week session. The boat building portion is a 5-days/week day-camp for three weeks. Once kayaks are complete, the group embarks on the overnight trip portion of the program: a 10-day expedition on Lake Champlain. Further details on this teen program can be found here: Champlain Discovery program.
In addition, this position will also be a trip leader for a two-week expeditionary rowing trip, Expedition Champlain. Training time in our rowing boats would be provided.
