Run by the Museum’s Champlain Longboats program, our rowing clubs welcome adults of all ages and all rowing abilities (including first-time rowers) to join us on the lake for weekly evening open-water rowing. Depending on the club or group size, we will be rowing in 32′ pilot gigs or St. Ayle’s skiffs. Browse through our current rowing club options to find the best fit for you.

As we all currently exist in a world with COVID-19, we have introduced some new safety protocols that all participants are required to follow. Before you sign up for a club, please review these protocols below.

Rowing Clubs

  • Rowing for Racing Club
Tuesdays – Vergennes, VT – Intermediate to Expert
Rowing for Racing meets every Tuesday evening at the Museum campus in Vergennes, Vermont. Open to rowers with prior experience, this group is best suited for those interested in a more aggressive workout. The overall emphasis of the group is on strength training, rowing technique, and endurance. We usually row for 1 ½ to 2 hours per night on Lake Champlain. There are usually several races in which rowers can participate, but racing is not a requirement. We’re always looking for experienced coxswains! Schedules will be posted here.

  • Vermont Skiff Rowing Club
Date TBD – Burlington, VT – Beginner to Expert
Coming soon, we are excited to introduce a St. Ayles Skiff rowing club in Burlington for all rowing levels. We’re still confirming details for this club – if you are interested and would like to know when this club opens up, please contact Vermont Skiff Rowing club leader Ben Mayock, benjamin.mayock@gmail.com

  • Community Rowing Club
Thursdays – Vergennes, VT – Beginner to Expert
This relaxed rowing group meets every Thursday evening at the Museum campus in Vergennes, Vermont. Open to rowers from beginner to experienced this group is a great way to experience the beauty of Lake Champlain while getting a great physical workout. We usually row for 1 ½ to 2 hours per night. Club members may also join our rowing teams to participate in rowing races around the region. Schedules will be posted here.
