SUMMARY:Philadelphia II Open Hours
DESCRIPTION:Soldiers in the Revolutionary War not only fought on boats\, they also often lived on them for months. Step aboard the Museum’s replica of the Revolutionary War gunboat Philadelphia to explore their living and working conditions\, understand the mechanics of the vessel\, and even row the oars! Aboard the vessel\, staff will have real artifacts from Revolutionary War sites around the lake (including recent artifacts recovered by our archaeologists at Arnold’s Bay) for visitors to see\, touch\, and learn about! \n\n\n\nAccessibility: The Philadelphia II is currently on the Museum Green. There is a staircase leading up to the boat\, and the boat is in the middle of a grassy area. However\, the rigging and cannon from the Philadelphia II are nearby or on the surrounding lawn\, and our staff would be happy to talk about the vessel as well as display props on the lawn. Staff can also show artifacts on the lawn if needed.

SUMMARY:Spitfire Shipwreck Virtual Reality Experience 
DESCRIPTION:Want to know what it’s like to explore an underwater shipwreck?   \n\n\n\nDive into the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum’s virtual reality tour of Spitfire\, a 1776 gunboat that sank during the American retreat from Valcour Bay. Using thousands of photos\, sonar images\, and videos of the wreck\, we created a detailed\, 3-dimensional model which Champlain College students transformed into this virtual reality dive. Stop by Fragments: Voices of the American Revolution on Lake Champlain and experience it for yourself! \n\n\n\nAccessibility: From the flexi-pave path\, there is one wheelchair accessible entrance to Fragments on the north side of the building. The exhibit space is fully ADA compliant.

You must register for this club for the season to sign up for weekly rows. We have instituted a Pay-What-You-Can model this season for all our rowing. SUMMARY:Whaleboat Wednesdays
DESCRIPTION:Try something new on Lake Champlain – go sailing in a custom 29’ whaleboat!   \n\n\n\nThis is a great and one-of-a-kind experience for a group of family\, friends\, or adventurous coworkers to get out on Lake Champlain in a traditionally-rigged wooden boat. Combining rowing and sailing\, these vessels were built in the Museum’s boat shop and are an unforgettable way to experience the lake.   \n\n\n\nWhaleboats are available to book in 1.5-hour increments for yourself or a pair at a flexible $60 pay-what-you-can rate per boat rental. Advanced registration is strongly recommended to reserve seats for everyone in your party.  \n\n\n\nEach whaleboat can accommodate groups of 5 people. You may book all five slots\, or the boat may include multiple parties. A museum skipper will accompany each departing whaleboat to instruct and steer. Come prepared to sail\, wear attire that is okay to get wet. Feel free to contact Sailing Programs Manager Matt Harrison at 952-303-1382 if you have any questions or if you need special accommodation.  \n\n\n\nIf no whaleboats depart on select Wednesdays\, open sailing aboard the Museum’s Split Rock Dinghies will be offered instead.   \n\n\n\nPlease note: We cannot offer an introduction to sailing at Open Dinghy Hours! Participants must have prior experience in a sailing vessel or small watercraft.
